Resurrection changed everything

Message: What Do You Want?

We all have wants. At birth, we all need food. But almost immediately we make preferences of what kind of food we want. Our parents usually over-rule our belief that an ice cream diet is the best. But children surely let their wants be known. Sometimes those expressions of want are done with crying and screaming. Hopefully, most of us outgrow that type of expressions of asking for what we want.

As we mature, our wants change and often include items that can be very expensive. I saw an Austin-Martin sports car at the airport the other day that I thought would look very nice in my driveway. Apparently that's not going to happen anytime soon.

As parents, we like to give gifts to our children. Particularly if we know they would really enjoy it. The Apostle Matthew in his gospel record shares that God likes to give good gifts to us. The Lord, in His Sermon on the Mount, even encourages us to ask.

So, for what should we ask the Lord? I certainly have my own list. And He has shown me how He gives beyond whatever need. But is there something as a church family that we need? I believe there are lots of things. This week, however, we shall look at a very specific want and we shall seek the Lord to supply our need. Come and be part of that as we worship and seek our Lord.

Scripture: Matthew 7:7f
